Questions about getting started

What are the system requirements?

Kinfolder runs on macOS 11 Big Sur or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and on Windows 10 and later (64-bit).

Do I need to create an account?

Yes — a free account, secured with a passkey (your face, fingerprint or device PIN; no passwords to remember). It lets you sign back in to pick up where you left off, and lets us send the occasional gentle reminder to finish. Your information stays encrypted with a key only you hold.

Is the download really free?

Yes. Downloading the app and filling in all eight sections is completely free. You only pay the one-time €149 if you choose to add encrypted EU safekeeping and trusted-person release.

Where is my information kept?

Everything stays on your own device until you decide otherwise. If you upgrade, an encrypted copy is kept safe in the EU — and even then, only you hold the key, so no one else can read it.

Can I move Kinfolder to a new computer?

Yes. You can export your entire folder as standard files at any time and open it on another device. It's always yours, with no lock-in.

Can I use Kinfolder on Windows?

Yes — Kinfolder is available for Windows 10 and later (64-bit), as well as macOS. Download either from the download page.
