Yes. You can start Kinfolder in your browser and fill in everything, all eight sections, for free. Your folder stays in that browser, on your own device. You only pay the one-time €149 when you want us to keep an encrypted copy safe in the EU, add your files and photos, and have it released to your trusted person when it matters.
Yes, it's the whole point. Everything is encrypted in your browser before it reaches us, so not even our team can read it. You sign in with a passkey instead of a password, and you keep a recovery code that only you have. It's hosted in the EU under European privacy law, and when access is finally granted it goes only to the person you chose, after their identity is verified. Kinfolder is built by engineers who spent over a decade on the national digital-identity and certificate systems behind government logins.
You can download your entire folder as standard files in a few clicks, at any time. It is always yours, there is no lock-in.
Yes, files and photos are part of Safekeeping. Click "Add from phone" on any item and scan the code with your phone camera. Photograph each page, and they arrive in your folder as one PDF, encrypted on your phone before they leave it. No app to install. You can also attach any other file.
Each file can be up to 25 MB, and Safekeeping includes 256 MB for scans and files, enough for a few hundred scanned pages. Need more? Add 1 GB for €19 or 5 GB for €59, paid once, yours for good. The text of your folder doesn't count toward this.
No. Kinfolder doesn't replace a will or give legal advice, it's the calm place that holds where everything is, so your family isn't left searching. Many people fill it in alongside their existing will.
