Kinfolder holds your family's most important information, so we treat keeping it safe as the whole job, not a feature. Here's how, in plain language.
Everything is locked in your browser before it reaches us. We store it, but we can't open it. Even our own team, even someone who broke into our systems, would find only sealed, unreadable boxes.
You sign in with a passkey: your face, fingerprint or device PIN. When you set up Kinfolder you also get a recovery code. Keep it somewhere safe. It's your way back in if you lose your passkey, because we can't open your folder for you.
It's stored on servers in the EU, under European privacy law, never shipped off to clouds in other countries.
Nothing is shared until you choose. When the moment comes, access is given only to the person you picked, and only after we've carefully checked it's really them.
Download everything in a few clicks, or delete it entirely, whenever you like. No lock-in, ever.
Kinfolder is made by engineers with over a decade building the national digital-identity and certificate systems behind government logins. Keeping identities safe is what we've always done.
Before we open the doors
We won't open Kinfolder to the public until independent security experts have reviewed it from top to bottom. Your family's information deserves nothing less, and we'd rather take the time to get it right.
In short: end-to-end encryption (your data is encrypted in your browser, never readable on our servers), passkey sign-in with a recovery code only you hold, EU-only hosting, access released to a verified recipient through strong identity checks, and an independent security audit before launch.
